This depends largely on the applicants themselves, and how much time they can devote to it. The theory part of the training is covered over three weekends, agreed between the applicant and ourselves. The written test can be taken on any working day between midday and 4 p.m., depending on how well prepared you feel you are. The practical part of the training lasts 200 hours, the scheduling of which is also flexible. Since, by its nature, we carry out our childcare work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, your practical training can likewise be accommodated at any time of the day.
We regard it as essential that those people whom we place with host families as baby sitters are competent, responsible and fully trained. We can only give positive references on those baby sitters whom we know personally and who we have seen at work looking after children. This is in the interests of our applicants as well.
Naturally, this depends on how quickly you can finish your training. Once this has been completed our staff will immediately engage in finding you a suitable host family. They will forward your details to selected families, and you will have the opportunity to select potential host families from our database.
Very often, where a trainee baby sitter's work fully meets the requirements of both the host family and the trainee baby sitter's mentor, then he or she can begin working in the family whilst still in the training stage. In these cases the parents have to send the mentors a report on the baby sitter's work, behaviour and suitability.
